JADE HOUSE

‘Jade House’ evolved from a wonderful hybrid of cultures and styles. Here high-end Italian design meets Parisian chic for a truly international Australian home. The owner of this 1920’s Toorak home regularly travels internationally for work and wanted a place that was elegant and reflected her international taste. As well as having the house set up for family visits, it was important that it be a sophisticated space in which she could entertain business associated when required.

The concept for the complete refit of this home was  based around the concept of the precious jade stone. Lighting and key pieces of furniture were selected for their sculptural qualities. Oversized pendant lights, redolent of Chinese lanterns create movement and form in the air; floor lamps play the role of ‘jewellery’ in each room. The house abounds with vibrant commissioned artworks that reflects the owner’s love of contermporary art and design. Emeral greens and blues abound throughout the home, establishing the lush and luxe mood of the interiors. Dark timbers such as smoked oak and wenge are teamed with lustrous furnishings that offer up the irridescent sheen of glass, silk, brass and marble.
