Lightness and balance is imbued throughout this conversions of a red brick mechanic’s workshop into a home for renowned photographer Shannon McGrath. Swee worked collaboratively with Shannon to furnish and style this home for her young family. There is a strong affinity to nature and the handcrafted in the curation of the furniture, and unique art and ceramics pieces.
A minimalist palette of blond timber pieces with organic curves sit harmoniously with the heritage character of the building. The layering of soft linen, wool and leather is contrasted against the grey tactile tiles and oak flooring. All the fabrics and furniture have a soft, honed and matt feel. Colour tones set the mood and function of the house. Green tones are abundant and are offset by muted neutrals and the softest of pinks.
There is a strong sense of quiet individuality about this home. Beauty abounds in the curation of artworks and also in the layering of sculptures and small delicate ceramic objects.
